Referral & Enquiries

The services offered by David are bespoke to each individual learner, environment, or organisation. However, they follow a framework from referral to delivery. The framework offers transparency on how each referral or enquiry is managed.

1: Referral or enquiry
Referrals or enquiries are accepted from parents, schools, colleges, alternative provisions and local authorities. They can be made via the contact form, email or telephone.

2: Consultation
A free consultation is offered to those making the referral, to explore their needs and the type of support that might be appropriate. The consultation takes place on the phone or via a video call. Consultations last 30-45mins and will normally take place within a week of receiving the referral or enquiry.

3.1: Assessment
Following the consultation, an informal assessment or needs assessment may be offered. An informal assessment will explore the barriers or challenges in more detail and will engage stakeholders relevant to the setting in order to gather their views. The informal assessment will also include visiting the environment. The assessment will result in a detailed report, including the findings, potential barriers / causes, as well as recommendations and actions. Assessments normally take 2 and 1/2 days to complete, and include a feedback call / meeting.

Assessment fees (excluding any assessment materials or travel): £750

3.2: SEN / Needs Assessment
SEN or Needs Assessments provide details of the barriers and difficulties a learner is facing. They don’t provide a formal diagnosis (such as autism, or ADHD). However, they are useful in supporting those on diagnostic waiting lists. They can provide detailed information on the learning needs of a person, and the types of support and intervention that should be used. Formal assessments may be used during this processes, such as:
– Word Reading, Sentence Comprehension, Reading and Maths Ages
– Sensory Profiling
– Functional Behaviour Assessments
– Handwriting Speed
– Wellbeing (PERMA)
– Functional Living Skills
Needs Assessments take place over 5 days and will include meeting the learner, observations, engagement with the wider network as well reviews of previous assessment reports.

SEN or Needs Assessment fees (excluding any specialist assessment materials or travel): £2500

4: Proposal
A proposal of intervention or support will be provided with all assessment reports. The proposal will outline how the recommendations from the assessment could be implemented and the associated support required. Where possible, this will look to use the resources already available to a client or learner (such as ordinarily available provision or expertise within the setting). It will also include details of the support that can be provided by David, and associated fees and timescales.

5: Delivery
For the intervention or delivery of support to be implemented, a formal agreement will be in place, ensuring clear outputs and deliverables are identified. Delivery will take place as agreed in the proposal. Regular reviews and feedback opportunities will ensure the quality of provision is in line with expectations.

6: Celebration and Review
Once support has been delivered, a summary is provided detailing the impact and progress made during the intervention, outreach or consultancy. Celebrating the successes is an important part of the process, and provides stakeholders with the motivation to continue with the skills and knowledge developed. For learners, celebrating success is incredibly important, and making time for this is crucial in recognising the hard work they have demonstrated.

The Celebration and Review stage will also include ‘next steps’ or recommendations for the client or learner.
